Now that we are in the throngs on welcoming Spring, its time to do a little Spring Cleaning.  No matter how new your home is-or isn’t- there are some regular maintenance activities that you will need to keep up on in order to avoid the disasters that can follow natural wear and tear.

First, we recommend that you check the interior of your home regularly for the following:

  1. Your smoke detectors:  A home with smoke detectors is great, but a home with smoke detectors holding on to dead batteries is not.  Be sure to check your smoke detectors every month so that you can exchange the batteries as soon as they may die out.
  2. Plumbing and wiring:  Old plumbing and wiring systems can lead to disaster.  If you aren’t sure as to the condition of these systems and if they are in good repair, consider calling an expert to evaluate them and catch any potential problems before it is too late.
  3. Heating System:  Change the filters for your central heating and air system.

Second, its amazing how much a little time and regular maintenance on the exterior of your home can save you thousands in repairs later.

We found this video put out by the Insurance Information Institute that gives a simple checklist to prevent damage now and in the future to your home. Call us today at 740-467-2040 for more information or get a free Ohio home insurance quote.
